Shortly before summer vacation, a stray cat follows Jan home, gives birth to kittens there, and—despite initial reservations on his part and that of his friends Sami and Martha—is cared for by them. The children care for the animals with great dedication, even though this means major changes, sacrifices, and health problems for Jan. In the process, they experience a special time that strengthens their bond and completely transforms their everyday lives.
